About Ian Perkins – SENr Registered Sports Nutritionist and HCPC Registered Dietitian in London

Ian Perkins is a London-based SENr registered sports nutritionist and HCPC-registered dietitian with extensive experience supporting athletes across rugby, football, combat sports, and endurance events. His career in performance nutrition began with Tonbridge Juddians RFC in England’s National League One, before expanding into combat sports nutrition through his 14 years of training, coaching, and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Elite Rugby & Professional Sport Experience

Ian’s expertise in sports nutrition led to his appointment with London Scottish RFC in the English Championship (2022–2025), where he progressed from club sports nutritionist to Performance Lead. Through the club’s partnership with Harlequins Rugby, Ian also worked with international players, refining his approach to high-performance nutrition at the elite level.

In 2022–2023, Ian supported London Irish RFC Academy, working with England U20 players and emerging Premiership talent. Even after the club’s closure, he continued providing nutrition support for players competing in the U20 Rugby World Cup in South Africa and transitioning into Premiership and Championship teams.

In 2024, Ian worked with Great Britain Rugby 7s (men’s and women’s squads) ahead of the 2024–25 season, and supported Crystal Palace FC Women’s Academy in the latter part of the season, contributing to the growth of women’s elite football. Ian also currently provides nutrition support to players at top English Premier League Football Academy, helping develop the next generation of professional footballers.

Endurance & Combat Sports Nutrition

Beyond rugby and football, Ian supports Ironman triathletes, marathon runners, and endurance athletes, helping them optimise fuelling strategies, hydration, and recovery for long-distance events. His background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has also shaped his expertise in combat sports nutrition, working closely with fighters to balance weight management and peak performance.

Registered Dietitian – Nutrition for Health & Performance

Alongside his work in elite sport, Ian is an HCPC-registered dietitian with a degree in Dietetics and membership in the British Dietetic Association (BDA). He has worked in both community and hospital settings, managing a wide range of clinical nutrition needs, including digestive health, weight management, and chronic disease nutrition. This dual expertise allows Ian to bridge the gap between sports performance and everyday health.

Ian has also contributed to public health and performance nutrition articles, including being featured on Holland & Barrett’s website discussing sports nutrition and endurance fuelling strategies.
